As they cut her from the wreck

The Accident

As they cut her from the wreck, I wanted to say,
"She's too young to die, don't let her slip away."

The accident just seemed to happen so fast,
But now as minutes ticked by, it seemed like hours had past.

Then finally the doctor came through the door.
He said, "We did our best, we could do no more."

Tears filled my eyes and ran down my face,
As memories rushed in that I couldn't erase.

I thought of the times we spent together in laughter and talk,
The times we spent shopping or just going for a walk.

Then fear gripped my heart as I suddenly thought,
Words about Christ I had spoken naught.

I hadn't told her about my Saviour and friend,
And now it was too late, her life had come to an end.

She knew not of His redeeming love,
I'd failed to talk about the things in heaven above.

The memories of joy now settled cold on my heart,
For deep inside I knew I'd failed to do my part.

Then all of a sudden I awoke with a fright,
And as I looked around I realised it was the middle of the night.

All that had happened, was only a dream,
There was no screech of tyres, no painful scream.

But still this had left an impression on my heart,
And I knew this day would be different, right from the start.

I knelt by my bed and started to pray,
“Lord, change my heart and my motives today.

Let me tell someone of your great love,
And help to prepare them for heaven above.

May my greatest joy be in sharing you,
And may others see Christ in all that you do.

Don't let me pass an opportunity by,
Without telling someone of my saviour, who came to die.

Lord, don't let me rest until it's been told,
That wonderful story of redemption so old.”
