Jesus is the Shepherd
A
shepherd helps and protects his sheep,
Watches over them while they sleep.
Watches
over them night & day,
Leads the little sheep all the way.
Gives them food that they might eat.
Keeps them strong on their feet.
Leads them to pastures green,
Gives them water that is clean.
Helps them, along their way,
Keeps them safe throughout the day.
Tends their wounds, if they should fall,
Carefully, tenderly, dressing them all.
The shepherd cares so much for his sheep,
If only close by him they’d keep.
But some of his sheep tend to stray,
They go off on their own way.
They wander right out of his care,
Into the snare of a lion or bear.
If only the shepherd’s sheep would obey,
And stay close by him through every day.
They would be safe within his care,
The shepherd would protect them from lion or bear.
My Friend…
Jesus is the shepherd, and we are the sheep,
But we often stray out of his keep.
Yes, like little sheep, we loose our way,
When from God’s fold we start to stray.
Out of His watch and out of His care,
Into the path of Satan’s snare.
We leave our shelter; we loose our way,
Because close to God, we fail to stay.
We think we can do it our own way
And right there is were we go astray.
We forget He’s trodden the path before,
He knows what’s behind every closed door.
He knows the heart aches, He knows the pain,
He’s been through the drought & the Rain.
He knows the things we cannot bear,
But He knows what it takes to get us there.
So my advice to you is, do not stray,
But follow the shepherd all the way
Stay close to God, my friend I pray,
Let Him guide you through each day.
Remember to spend time in prayer,
Thank Him for His watch, & care.
