I left you Behind

I went on my way today,
I thought you wouldn’t mind.
I got out of my bed
And the car keys I couldn’t find.

I yelled, and cursed
And swore,
And then walked
Out the door.

I forgot to shut,
And latch the gate
Because I was running
So very late.

Oh Lord, I made a big mistake
I didn’t ask you in my heart
And now my whole day
Has just fallen apart.

The family’s upset, the house a mess,
The dog we cannot find.
All because I awoke
And left you behind.
